"Breathe by Abbi Glines is like a modern day fairytale. Although instead of having the prince charming, you get a teen idol rockstar that is sure to knock your socks off! Ultimately, I am still new to the whole Abbi Glines phenomena but so far everything she has written has pulled me right in from the get go. I love the concept of her books and this one in particular really made me smile. Some of the things the characters said (like the continuous use of saying “however” by Jax) turned me off a bit because that kind of writing should be used for term papers not conversation. But other than this, I really loved this story and can’t wait to read Marcus’s story next. Fans of the author (and those who are new to her) should definitely give this book a go. I honestly enjoyed it immensely and loved how sweet and vulnerable the characters actually were.

Sadie has just moved to Sea Breeze Alabama with her very pregnant mother. And because her mother is nearing the end of her pregnancy, Sadie has to pick up the slack and make money for the small family. So she takes her mothers work position in the home of Jax stone- a teen idol rockstar (and every girls dream). But Sadie is determined not to let this heartthrob keep her up at night, so she goes about ignoring him to the best of her ability. After all, she has a job to do and mouths to feed. But Jax Stone can’t quite leave her alone. And soon Sadie is falling under this rockers spell.

Jax Stone is a teen idol- the boy that every girl wants to be with. But having never found someone he could connect with on a deep and emotional level, he played the field and just did his thing. That is, until Sadie walks into his life. To Jax, Sadie is a vulnerable, sincere, and sweet southern girl who is so much different than anyone he has ever encountered before. But he is afraid to let her in fully because he knows that his rockstar life isn’t going to mix well with a relationship. So what happens when he falls in love? Can he have the relationship he’s always dreamed of having with his career? Or will his career jeopardize his relationship?

Overall, I really loved this book to pieces. I found it to be really cute, sweet, and endearing. Jax is definitely a heartthrob, and Sadie is exactly how she appears to be (a cute, sweet, and innocent female that has the world on her shoulders). The love story, while it unfolds quickly, is definitely heart melting as well. Each of these characters stole my heart and I wish there were more that we could see. So, would I recommend this book? Absolutely! I honestly have loved everything I have read by the author and I plan on reading more in the near future!"

Breathe Sea Breeze Abbi Glines Books Reviews

  • This book got me back into reading. After college I was just in a reading slump and I didn't really read much. I read a few regency books, you know the kind you swipe from your mom's old stash or buy at a library sale. But then I read this book and it opened up my eyes to the new generation of romance novels.
The generation is young. College/ high school. And it is rock star romance. You get to watch the couple grow as they get older and have to face the challenges that are thrown their way. Abbi's writing brings in you and your emotions and when their hearts break, your heart breaks. There is a bit of funny wit, sexy times, crushes, and coming of age. So much goodness all rolled into one.
Abbi Glines is amazing. This first book I read of hers. Right after this I went on a binge and read ALL of her books within like 3 weeks. And that is a lot of books. This book jumps off the Sea Breeze series. so much goodness.
Give this book a try. It will open up your eyes and your TBR list will grow. I so highly recommend this book.

  • Overall rating 4 Rockin' ★★★★

I have to admit, being a complete lover of Abbi Glines’ Rosemary Beach series, I was timid about starting the Sea Breeze series. I wasn’t sure that I could make the transition from the characters that I had grown to love. Honestly, it took me about a third of the book “Breathe” and I was completely hooked into another world from this fabulous author. I loved how she developed ALL of the relationships in this book. I felt like I was a part of it all.

Sadie White was an ordinary girl with a sheltered life. She spent her life going unnoticed and taking care of her mother. She had to work in order for the two of them to be able to pay the bills and eat. When her mother felt she could no longer work, Sadie took her job as a servant for a well-known teen rock star!

“He stole my breath away the moment we first spoke. He's my air.”

“I would imagine in your world, girls are much different than here in the real world. I’m sure if you spent some time with the everyday girl, you would find I am not unique.”

Jax was the most famous teen rock star in the world and for the summer, all he wanted was to escape the limelight and retreat to his private home in Sea Breeze, AL. No distractions, no paparazzi, no girls……seclusion and relaxation with his family! That was all he wanted, until he saw Sadie for the first time.

“You're everything I write about in songs, but can never have."

“You're ever song I have ever sung. I'll never let anything hurt you again. For the first time in my life, my dreams aren't about me. They're about you."

This story is about two people from different worlds learning their place in each other’s lives. They know that it is only for the summer and couldn’t possibly last past that….but how and when do they say goodbye, and can they actually do that? I was swept up in their story! There were twists and turns and ups and downs throughout the book that kept me wondering and hoping that they would make it past the summer!!...Amber
